-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------** 2008 Management Conference **
We recently concluded the Eighth International Conference on Knowledge, Culture and Change in Organisations, 5-8 August at Cambridge University, UK. Tamsyn Gilbert of Common Ground provides personal reflections on the Conference:
Although slightly wet, Cambridge was a great backdrop for the ideas presented and discussed at the conference. The ideas presented by the plenary speakers (Tina Bass, Bill Cope, Katie Enock, Martyn Laycock, Alexandra V. Roth and Alan Zaremba) further contributed to this atmosphere. Many thanks must go to all those who assisted the conference from New Hall who helped the delegates throughout their stay. We are now looking forward to next year's conference at Northeastern University, Boston, USA, and to the upcoming publications in the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management.

Please feel free to e-mail me any events or other information that you would like to share with the Management Community through this newsletter. Members of the Management Community are invited to submit reviews and feedback on papers that have been published. Please see the Management Journal News section of this newsletter to find out more about this. Contributing Editors Needed
The Management Community Newsletter is intended to serve as a forum through which its recipients can communicate items of relevance to their colleagues and, in doing so, assist in the building of community around a shared interest in management and knowledge, culture and change in organisations. Contributing Editors play a key role in the Newsletter by providing essential content, including information on conferences and symposia, fellowships, books by Management Community members, opportunities to publish, and additional items of interest. The Contributing Editors are particularly well suited to this role because their disciplinary affiliation, professional networks and geographical location, among other things, often provide them with access to information that might be otherwise overlooked or inaccessible.
We are currently looking for additional Contributing Editors for the Management Community Newsletter. We greatly appreciate the continued participation of Contributing Editor, Sabine Hoffman of Macquarie University, Australia. However we recognize that, given the size of the task, additional Editors are needed to significantly increase Newsletter content. We are looking for people who are professionally engaged and interested in the mission of the Newsletter, as well as able to commit to submitting at least one contribution per month.
In addition to assisting with the Newsletter, Contributing Editors serve on the International Advisory Board of the Management Conference, (www.ManagementConference.com) and its corresponding Journal (www.ManagementJournal.com). Advisory Board members provide suggestions on the themes of each year's Conference and Journal, as well as the overall intellectual direction. In return, Contributing Editors receive a complimentary registration to the Conference and subscription to the Journal.
Applicants should send a letter of interest and CV to Helen Agans at helen.agans@commongroundpublishing.com. Please note that because we are interested in the serving the diverse, and truly international, interests of the Management Community, we hope to have a correspondingly diverse applicant pool. Once we have received and reviewed all applications, e-mail notifications will be sent to all applicants notifying them of the final decision.
----------------------------------------------[2] Community News
----------------------------------------------Call for Papers: International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management
'Understanding Bicultural Individuals in Organizations: Implications and Opportunity' Cross-cultural management research typically assumes that individuals have only one cultural profile. However, given the changing patterns in the world's workforce it is increasingly possible that more employees and managers will be bicultural. Biculturals have a dual pattern of identification with different cultures. They have simultaneous awareness of being a member of (and often an alien in) two cultures and therefore typically have more cognitively complex cultural representations than do monoculturals.
While interest by psychologists in biculturals is growing rapidly, the current state of knowledge about bicultural individuals provides more questions than it does answers for cross-cultural management. This special issue seeks both conceptual and empirical papers that address the implications and opportunities presented by this new demographic for organizations.
Manuscripts should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to Serap Yavuz at ijccm@ku.edu.tr by 1 October 2008.

----------------------------------------------ECREA's 2nd European Communication Conference
Organizers: European Communication Research and Education Association
Venue: Barcelona (Spain)
Date: 25-28.11.2008
The broad theme of this major international congress, communication policies and culture in Europe, refers to the confluence that can be established between the media and the different interpretations of culture in Europe nowadays. This confluence refers to the globalisation effects on a diversity of spaces (multinational, national, local) with all its political implications.
It moreover refers to the different mediations and interactions that configure the current European society with respect to migrations, new forms of political participation, the dialectics of identity and diversity, new cultural consumptions, etc. The broad title aims to emphasize the importance of politics and culture, but also refers to new ways of regulation and de-regulation, the technology and the management of convergence within the cultural industries the new public service remit, and the variety of communication policies that aim to guarantee cultural diversity and development in Europe.

-----------------------------------------------Authors and Readers Want Your Feedback
Authors of papers, and people who are about to read an article often find post-publication reviews to be extremely helpful. This is why Common Ground provides all readers with the opportunity to comment on any paper that they've read via the 'Write a Review' feature. All you need to do is to go to the page for that particular article, go to the bottom of the page, click on the 'Write a Review' link and let your voice be heard. Give your review a title, add your review content and click on the star rating. All reviews are moderated by Common Ground's publishing team (to prevent irrelevant or slanderous submissions). Please note that the 'Write a Review' feature is not the place to inform us of typo's in the catalogue. If you note typo's that you'd like to let us know about please contact us at journals@commongroundpublishing.com noting the product link and the specific error.

HOSTING THE MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE
Would your institution, or an institution with which you are affiliated, be interested in hosting the International Conference on Knowledge, Culture and Change Management? Hosting the conference attracts considerable international attention for the host institution, and the opportunity to connect local concerns and expertise into a wider intellectual community.
Possibilities include hosting the full, annual conference, or hosting a shorter, more narrowly themed (two or three day) symposium midway between the annual conferences. Content from the conference and symposia are published into the International Journal of Management.
If you are interested in exploring these possibilities, please email Helen Agans in our office at the University of Illinois helen.agans@commongroundpublishing.com

As part of the process of publishing the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management, all submissions are sent for peer refereeing, prior to publication. Assessment, comments and guidance by the referees are an essential part of the publication process and invaluable to the authors of the submitted papers.
In recognition of the important role of referees, the international advisory board acknowledges all referees who have refereed papers as an 'Associate Editor' in the volume of the journal they have contributed to.
If you would like to referee papers submitted to the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management, please email cg-support@cgpublisher.com, with your professional details, areas of expertise and contact details.
